The packing looked a little beat up, but the only problem I found was a small dent in the splash guard and one of the socket head bolts holding it to the bottom of the crate was pretty bent, but not difficult to get out.
Getting it unpacked wasn't difficult and cleaning it generally up took about an hour. Fired up the first time! Seems kind of grindy noisy, but I haven't lubed it yet.
Everything seems rather tight for right out of the box. Nothing seems to have slop at this point! I suppose that will prove out when I actually try to do something on it.
One thing I noticed that was different was that it came with a "Safety Chuck Key", it has a spring loaded sleeve / collar over the key itself forcing you to put pressure on it to get the actual key in and pop the key out when you loosen pressure on it. Keeps you from forgetting and leaving it in the chuck. Good idea, I think.
Getting it out of the box and up on the chest of drawers (only place I have for it at the moment) was a lot easier than I thought it would be doing it alone. It is heavy and a bit cumbersome but if one is careful and takes it slow and easy it is possible to get it up to what amounts to just above waist height. That said, if you have someone who can help, do get them to do so.
Happy Dance! I've wanted one of these forever! Oh, also you notice that it is blue rather than the yellow they show on their web page, too cool, I wasn't looking forward to having to paint black spots on it and name it "Daisy" :-).
Still have some setup / cleanup work to do with it but here are the pix I took getting it / getting it out of the box. Enjoy!
Added a pix of it all cleaned up and ready to go and the chuck key.
