Shiny Things for April 7, 2006

I decided to expand these entries, it is all Harvey's fault :-). Maybe someone can learn something from my adventures here.

This is the haul for April 7, 2006. Lots of things I have needed and a couple goodies.
A clamp meter. I was going to get one from CSI for about $60 for the meter and the line splitter. I have a lot of things plugged in around here, all in theory low draw devices (mostly wall warts it seems) but I have been wondering for a good while just how much things are really drawing. Seems the responsible thing to do just to be safe and the price at Harbor Freight was about $17 for both. It isn't something that is going to get hard use so I suspect it will do.
A set of SAE and metric T handle hex wrenches. I had been prepared to just get one for more than what I paid for both. Used them last night for the first time and, compared to the fold out ones, they are a dream!
Snap ring pliers, after years of using whatever I had to get those things on and off, having this is going to be pure pleasure and should remove several hours of screwing around with various (ineffective) workarounds and saving the time spent going to get another when the afro-engineered tools shoot one into an alternate universe!
With the dial indicator now I can see just how bad things really are, a mixed blessing :-). Most difficult thing with it is finding some place to affix it on the micro-mill. I think I also need the smaller one that will clamp in a chuck or collet. It is a start and certainly far better than what I had (nothing).
A regulator for the air compressor. Either I don't really know how to use it or it sucks or the little pancake compressor is just below it's capacity. Much to learn in so many areas.
The compound square I got primarily for the center finder and that the price was really right :).
The composit calipers (carbon fiber, etc.) I got as a present for my roomie to use with her lapidary endeavors and replace the beat up plastic vernier ones she had.
