Update: Pix 5, 6 and 7 show the strap clamps between the tool post and compound, this works and is reasonably solid!.
You can see from the pix below that the design is either really poor or it wasn't actually designed for use with the Mini-Lathe.
Best you can get with the toolrest is about 1/2" below spindle center. Any more than that and the rest support shaft wobbles.
You will need the original tool holder as it is too thick and probably too heavy to work with the QCTP holders.
Besides the wobble in the post if it is placed too high (hole it sits in seems to be a bit oversize), the inability to place the rest on the spindle center, possible looseness of the rest to support shaft (another wobble source), it also will not pivot around the compound corner to get at the back of a part without removing it from the compound and moving it over the corner.
Thus, when you get this be prepared to do some work on it.
Options seem to be to make a block and attach it to the top of the rest to get to spindle center. Stuffing a couple strap clamps between the tool holder and compound and getting a longer bolt to hold it all to the compound seems to work.
Making about a 3/4" spacer plate in place of the strap clamps would work too and certainly be less cumbersome.
Drill out the point where the roll pin goes through the rest and support shaft and put a bolt through it to hold it solid.
In my opinion, this is awfully expensive for what it is, considering that it takes some work and jerking around to get it to work
Still, for what it is, you can do some wood working with the Mini-Lathe. If you can't justify a real woodworking lathe, bite the bullet and get this if you have occasional small wood working projects.
