  • My Machining History

My manual experience came from a dear friend who had a small mom&pop shop and after 1001 questions about dealing with metal he put me to work in his shop which was a wonderful and educational experience. I learned a lot from Mark, but do not know it all by *any* means.

From there I managed to land a job doing CNC programming, I did 99.9999%+ programming and the guys in the shop took care of the machines :-(. I enjoyed that job, but it didn't get me close to the hardware to expand my knowledge in that area.

My area of expertise is primarily programming, I've worked with everything from ancient (now :-) IBM mainframes to the current crop of AVR microcontrollers. I much prefer hands on where I am doing something other than creating another report for the bean counters :-).

Working in metal is something that has always been an interest and until very recently not something I could afford to get into. The micro-mill and the lathe are a hobby / rehab / education for me.

    More to follow!
