Having used some of the parts from the kits to fix my ballpoint PSI traditional that the front plastic tube broke on, I discovered the difference between the ballpoint version and the fountain pen - the back gold tube is bored out wider to accomodate the ink cartridge which is thicker than the one for the ballpoint.
Also, the cap doesn't fit well on either end, not sure why, perhaps I put too much pressure on the tubes and stretched out the tube for the cap enough that they don't grab the either end of the pen itself. Really not sure as I had the same effect with the ballpoint.
This convinced me that the lighter woods can be nice too.
